Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health services support both mental and physical well-being for optimal health and productivity. Counselors use a collaborative, comprehensive treatment approach that considers psychological, social, environmental, and biological factors for empowering clients to improve their ability to function with life circumstances and situations. Behavioral Health screening, assessments, and therapy is available for issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems, life-skills development, substance abuse, behavioral diagnoses, post-traumatic stress, grief, and the challenges of acute or chronic health conditions. Treatment services include individual and group therapy, marriage and family therapy, and crisis intervention services.

Our Guardianship Team makes decisions regarding medical treatments, residential services and quality of life for those who are incapacitated. Not only do we ensure that the individuals we serve reside in safe environments and are provided with good medical care but we also ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect. We use volunteers to meet the socialization needs of those we serve.

HSNT is awarded guardianship over an individual following a detailed, legal process that evaluates and determines if an individual lacks capacity and is in need of a guardian to make important decisions for them. As guardians, we not only advocate for superior services for our clients but we also work to protect individuals from potential abuse, exploitation neglect, and/or self-neglect. HSNT Guardianship staff are Social Workers as well as Certified Guardians. We serve as decision makers for those individuals who can no longer make decisions for themselves and do not have family members who are willing, able, or qualified to serve as guardian.

Prescription Assistance Program

HSNT provides a Prescription Assistance program for our Medical Center patients to have access to the medications they need in order to stay healthy and treat illness. The Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) provides free or low-cost prescription medication to low-income patients who are uninsured or under-insured and meet the guidelines. Most medications are provided by the pharmaceutical companies who manufacture the medicine. This program is not a government program or an insurance plan, but rather a service our agency provides to help our patients with their medical needs.

Case Management

At Health Services of North Texas our professional Case Management team offers clients assistance in finding medical care, medication, social, community, legal, financial, and other needed services. Our Case Managers look at your needs and resources and design a personal service plan, centered on your health and well-being.Our Case Managers are experts at linking clients to needed services and addressing barriers to receiving services, encouraging clients to focus on their medical care.

Nutrition Services

HSNT offers Nutrition Services that provides clients with food and hygiene products to supplement their own resources and to increase their access to nutritious food. Case managers refer clients to the pantry when assistance in getting food is needed and refer to other community services for on-going need. Clients can receive supplemental food and hygiene products on a regular basis or in emergency situations. The Nutrition Center offers nutritional education handouts, recipes, and nutrition classes.

Additional Services for HIV patients: At Health Services of North Texas we specialize in treating HIV and offer special programs that HIV patients may qualify for.

Transportation Services

HSNT offers transportation services for HIV clients to get to and from medical and social service appointments. Our Case Managers refer clients to transportation coordinators who can schedule transportation to and from appointments. Although transports to medical and behavioral health appointments are the first priority, every effort is made to accommodate transports to other social service appointments.

Insurance Assistance

Our Insurance Assistance program allows clients who are living with HIV to keep medical insurance coverage and maintain established medical care. The program offers financial assistance to clients who can no longer afford to pay for their medical premiums, co-pays, or deductibles. Case managers will assess and refer clients to the program.

Housing Assistance

HSNT is able to use grant money and provide Housing Assistance services for people living with HIV. Our Case Managers are also able to provide referrals to other community programs for those without an HIV diagnosis. Services such as long-term assistance with rent or short-term assistance with rent, mortgage, or utility costs can provide the necessary support to remain healthy and to promote economic self-sufficiency. Housing assistance can prevent homelessness as well as assist homeless clients who are transitioning into affordable housing. For clients transitioning from homelessness to independent living, intensive case management includes innovative approaches to increasing skill, income, and self determination.
